Watch out for imitations!

Not all ceramic insulation coatings are created equal! There is also a vast difference between an insulating coating and a "reflective paint". As with any and all world class technology there will inevitably be cheap imitations that will claim to do the same or better and cost half the price. These companies put up pictures of Space Shuttles too and slick statements on their web site to lead one to believe they use the same technology as Super Therm®.

You can't just throw some ceramic (usually cheap Perlite or other reflective ceramic) into some kind of paint and say "me too". Some will even go so far as to sell mere bags of ceramic powder to the unsuspecting public with the notion that the user would simply add this to their own paint and get the same results.

These cheap imitations are making exaggerated and unsubstantiated claims that have resulted in lawsuits.

When pressed for documentation ( ie. ASTM ) from certified testing facilities to back up these claims however they are unable to produce any or at best produce some hokey unrecognized and unaccredited test they designed themselves and conducted by unaccredited non thermal labs following the customers directions.

These kinds of practices unfortunately hurt the legitimate product as we have seen because it's the bad news that people will always remember.

Test rigging!

There have already been many attempts to cast doubt on the high performance of Super Therm® coating by the competition (mainly makers of other insulators) based on amateur testing using various lamps or other heat sources, or based on improper usage.
Remember, Super Therm® was developed for reflection and insulation against mainly solar thermal radiation, thus its proven top performance and consequent energy savings are achieved in just that context.

The use of other heat sources as well as the application of the coating for other uses than it is intended make it possible to manipulate the performance results. The only goal of such tests is to raise doubt in the minds of clients selecting insulation. You can see for yourself that Superior Products International II, Inc., the manufacturer, makes an additional 6 types of ceramic coatings, each of which has its own purpose and each of which achieves the highest performance for that use. Everything depends on the internal composition of the ceramic: For example, in applications to refrigeration systems (against frost) or to hot piping, a coating with a high content of vacuum ceramics will always be more effective than Super Therm®. We have this coating, called HSC™ Coating, on offer; it contains the greatest proportion of vacuum-insulative ceramic which provides the best defence against heat and cold transfer.

Both coatings cannot be directly compared, since Super Therm® needs to block the transfer of less than 5% of solar heat because it reflects other 95% with other types of ceramic.

Each of SPI’s coatings as well as Super Therm® was created for a specific application in which it is the best-performing with proper use.

But don’t take the word of so-called “experts”, ask us for a free test right on your own roof, we’ll be happy to demonstrate the extraordinary performance of Super Therm® coating!
